Easy and Fudgy Tahini Brownies

So I have this thing for sesame lately, I have tried out sesame cookies, sesame ice cream, and nothing of this disappointed me so I am going to the next bake: tahini brownies. I love sesame and especially black sesame, at first I wanted to make these brownies with black tahini, but I wasn’t able to find this anywhere nearby and was too lazy to make it myself so I just went for a nice organic tahini. I still got some black sesame seeds for garnish tho and wanted to go that extra bit with the sesame and gave the brownie and rich tahini swirl too.

These tahini brownies are actually one of the best brownies I have ever eaten, tahini or not. Personally I also just love that how the added tahini just elevates this brownie with a nice rich and nutty taste. Because tahini contains a lot of fat you don’t need any extra butter or oil for these brownies. Doesn’t mean these brownie are low in fat but it does make me feel a little bit better that I am not using lots of butter and oil and still have a super fudgy brownie.

So let’s get to this brownie baby.

Ingredients

To fill a 9×9 inch baking pan with delicious tahini brownies you will need:

  • 240 g | 1 cup tahini and some extra tablespoons for the tahini swirl
  • 150 g | 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 33 g | 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 55 g | 1/3 cup roughly chopped dark chocolate
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • black sesame seeds for garnish

Method

  • Preheat your oven to 350 and grease a 9×9 baking pan with some butter/oil or line it with some baking paper like me (I sometimes just prefer that)
  • Grab a large bowl and combine the tahini, vanilla extract and the sugar. Mix in the eggs one by one and mix until you have a smooth mixture.
  • Sift in your cocoa powder, flour, salt and baking soda. Gently fold this in with a silicon spatula. Also fold in your chopped chocolate. You will have a thick batter.
  • Spread out your batter in your prepared baking form. For the tahini swirl just dollop some dots of tahini over the batter and make a swirl pattern with the tip of a sharp knife.
  • Bake your brownie for 25 to 30 minutes, depending on how fudgy you want your brownies. Jut test your brownie by inserting a knife, if it comes out clean it should be done, a few crumbs are also fine if you want it to be more fudgy.
  • Let your brownies cool down a bit and garnish them with the black sesame seeds and enjoy! Is very nice with a fresh cup of coffee.
